Changing or rearranging a baby's room is fun for Mom, Dad, and baby.  Children delight in new colorful surroundings. They are interesting and adventuresome! 

Simply adding a new crib sheet color or pattern to neutral crib bedding changes the look.  The same result can be achieved by changing to a new bed skirt, blanket, or maybe even a window valance or curtains. These are some very simple ways to refresh your nursery decor, or to set up your nursery for your child's new sibling!

Seasonal baby bedding works well in the same way. Add a Christmas or Easter crib sheet, bassinet sheet, Christmas or Easter blanket to existing nursery colors to achieve a festive atmosphere. We do it in other areas of our homes....why not delight our baby or toddler with their surroundings! 

When Your Baby Becomes a Toddler

Babies are considered toddlers when they reach the age of 1 year or 12 months. This is a time when you might want to consider a gradual transition to a toddler bed. Updating your child's nursery to accommodate a toddler's needs is easy. Here are a few suggestions and tips:


For Convert-a-cribs:
Convert your crib to its toddler bed version and then follow these easy steps.

1. Use your existing bed skirt, or choose a new bed skirt! You may prefer to have a Dance With Joy® Create Your Own bed skirt constructed especially for you with only 3 skirted sides.

2. Add a toddler sheet or toddler sheet set, or use an existing crib sheet. Possibly add a pillow with a coordinating pillowcase or sham that would pick up a color or pattern from your bed skirt or nursery decor.

3. Use your existing baby comforter or quilt for a bed covering, or choose a new comforter, quilt or bed blanket.
4. Use your existing crib bumper, or choose a new crib bumper.   You may prefer to have a Dance With Joy® Create Your Own crib bumper constructed especially for you with only 3 sides of bumper.

For Toddler Beds:
Standard baby crib mattresses are the same size as standard toddler bed mattresses (28 by 52 inches). So, your crib mattress would fit a toddler bed.

1. Fold your existing bed skirt under the mattress at the head of the toddler bed, or omit it entirely. You may prefer to have a Dance With Joy® Create Your Own bed skirt constructed especially for you with only 3 skirted sides.

2. Add a toddler sheet or toddler sheet set, or use an existing crib sheet and maybe add a pillow with a coordinating pillowcase or sham picking up a color, or colors, of your crib set or nursery decor.

3. Add a toddler bed blanket, comforter, quilt, or your existing comforter or quilt to complete your "big girl" or "big boy's" room.
